Senior Recital poster from March 2023 at UNCSA

Gabrielle Meinke, a Soprano

from Detroit, Michigan, has been described by Voix des Arts as possessing unerring theatrical instincts. She is a current student of Nicholas Loren and a recent graduate University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) with a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance and a minor in German Studies, where she studied with Dr. Mailyn Taylor.

Post graduation, summer 2023, Gabrielle attended the Patti and Allen Herbert Summer Voice Program in Salzburg, Austria, where she sang Sophie in scenes from Der Rosenkavalier. During her 4 years at UNCSA, Gabrielle has been First Lady in scenes from Der Zauberflöte, Minerva in Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach, Jolicoeur in Monsieur et Madame Denis by Offenbach, Judge 1 in John Musto’s Volpone, and, her breakout role, Eurilla in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino, where she “limned Eurilla’s capricious playfulness with great charm… making each of Eurilla’s appearances in the opera a joy.” (Voix des Arts).  She has also been in the choruses of Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix, Handel’s Jeptha, and Verdi’s La Traviata with Piedmont Opera. Gabrielle was also a member of the UNCSA Cantata Singers, where they performed and handful of Bach and baroque Cantatas, including Bach Cantata 140, where she was the Soprano Soloist.

Gabrielle started her theatrical journey as a child in community theater and then began studying voice at age 11. By age 16, she partook in her first international tour with the Blue Lake International youth choir and orchestra, where they toured Dvorak’s ‘Stabat Mater’ through Southern France and Northern Germany and were housed my members of the community.

With an oversaturated market of singers, it is imperative that my story shines through. I have poured my heart and soul into creating a space that showcases my passion and talent, and I am thrilled to share it with you.

About me

Born and raised in rural Michigan, I am a pure Midwestern through and through, which means being down to earth, personable, and kind. Along with being a Classical Musician, I am a Germanophile, who has been studying the language for 4+ years, a 5+ years practicing Yogi and 200hr trained and certified Yoga teacher. Im an avid reader, reading books both in English and German, and a fan of classic Russian literature. I love music, obviously, and my favorite composers are Richard Strauss, Rachmaninoff, Bellini, Verdi and Tchaikovsky.
